Branding and camouflage are both about fantasy, artifice and exaggerated dis/play.Celia de Villiers

The research centres on the devices performance artists use to come to terms with their lived environment; our identities are partly produced by the gaze of the ‘Other’. The repetitive vinyl cut-outs have compulsive, fetishistic implications and speak of the artificial — the vinyl even reacts to heat, curling and altering its shape.

Playful and attractive, yet on closer scrutiny offensive: the sublime of ‘delightful horror’. (From LiveWire, 2006.)
