A liminal period is the crossing of a threshold — one state of being into another.Celia de Villiers
A liminal period means the crossing of a threshold — the movement from one mental or physical state to another, through a private or public rite. Our sense of self is shadowed by a fragile anxiety, a gnawing sense of lack.
The glass torsos evoke the frailty and changeability of the body (recalling the martyrdom of Saint Sebastian); the salt beneath, with the texture of broken glass, is an antiseptic that heals piercings and scars. Copper, silver and gold are used for their curative properties. (From LiveWire, 2006.)
