Glass, transformed by fire — malleable, fragile and tough at once.Celia de Villiers

Tweaking carries a dual meaning — discomfort and distress, but also the wrenching and distorting of parts of the body. Glass, transformed by chemical additives and fire, is both fragile and tough; its malleability under pliers and tweezers enhances the meaning of the work — a tongue-in-cheek construction of new mythologies, hinting at synthetic neo-Gothic life forms.
